Wake Rescue and EMS Fund

SHOULD YOU WORRY ABOUT YOUR NEED FOR EMS SERVICES?

Unfortunately, yes. All of us like to believe that we will never have the need to dial 911 for any emergency services, but every day someone needs the services of an ambulance. It may be due to an automobile accident, cardiac arrest, illness or injury. When the time comes for you to use the services of an ambulance, you want that ambulance to be ready to respond to your call for help.

EMS Subscription Fund

100% of the money from your subscription membership is returned to Apex EMS or the rescue squad that serves the area that you live in. This money provides valuable operating funds that insure the continued high level of pre-hospital medical care that you have come to expect. Unlike the fire departments, EMS and Rescue Squads are not supported by a tax base nor are we employees of a government agency.

How do I join?

Subscription forms are mailed out annually in late summer. When you receive your form, fill out the appropriate information and return it by mail with your check to the address listed on the form. Although you are not mailing this form to Apex EMS directly, we will receive notification of your enrollment and the fund associated with it.

If you do not receive your subscription packet, you may find information at the Wake County site, or feel free to contact us via phone at 363-1577 or by email nwinstead@apexems.org

What is involved?

An annual cost of $60.00 which insures that all members of your household are covered from October 1st to September 30th of the following year and must be renewed annually. This plan provides for emergency care and transport within the Wake County by any Wake County affiliated agency. There are approximately 18,750 families in the Apex EMS district. Of these, only approximately 1700 families join the EMS membership program annually.

In the event you need an ambulance to respond to an emergency, your private insurance, Medicare or Medicaid information will be billed and collected; however, you will not be financially responsible for any charges that are not covered by your insurance.

What if I don’t join?

Insurances do not always cover the costs associated with treatment and transport in an ambulance. Without your subscription, you will be responsible for charges not paid by your insurance carrier.

The cost for Advanced Life Support (ALS) transport is $425.00 + loaded milage

The cost for ALS treatment without transport is $152.00
