Full-Time Paramdedic - Shift Supervisor Paramedic Position


Apex Fire and EMS is currently seeking a full time Shift Supervisor Paramedic position in Apex North Carolina. This position would ride an ambulance on a regular shift and manage personnel on that shift.

Membership Information

If you are a North Carolina certified EMT-Basic or higher and interested in serving your community, consider Apex EMS. We are a small, close-knit agency considering motivated members of any experience level.

As a member, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Completing a six-month probationary period During this time you will become familiarized with our equipment, policies & procedures and complete a driver training program.
  • Attend Business Meetings: Every second Tuesday of the month
  • Attend Training Meetings: Every fourth & fifth Tuesday of the month

Becoming an Emergency Medical Technician

What is required to become an EMT

EMT (basic): 160 classroom hours, 24 clinical hours

EMT-I (Intermediate): EMT or EMT D and an additional 100 hours of class work and clinical time

EMT-P (Paramedic): EMT-I and approximately 600 hours of classroom and clinical time or a 2 or 4 year degree program

Each level requires certification at the state level through written and skills testing. The ALS levels through EMT-P, require certification by the County Medical Director through added testing. In addition, all levels of EMT must take a minimum of 36 hours of continuing education per year to maintain their certification. The ALS levels also require continuing education in advanced skills such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advance Life Support and Basic Trauma Life Support.
